by FanHouse TVThere is only one team in the National Football League that has never made the playoffs. That team is the Houston Texans, and their 9-7 record last season was just enough to be on the outside looking in.
FanHouse TV's Dan Graziano reports that it may be tough to keep their high-flying offense out of the postseason in 2010.

Matt Leinart, the NFL's biggest-name out-of-work former Heisman Trophy winner and top-10 draft pick, found a job on Labor Day.
Leinart, released Saturday by the Arizona Cardinals, agreed Monday to a one-year contract to play backup for the Houston Texans, his agent confirmed to the Associated Press. Terms of the deal were unavailable.
The 10th overall pick in the 2006 draft, Leinart was considered a franchise savior when selected by the previous Cards regime. But his lack of development and questionable work ethic as a backup to Kurt Warner got the former USC superstar in head coach Ken Wisenhunt's doghouse.

by John OehserWhen it comes to the Houston Texans' backup quarterback position, one or two bad throws does not a preseason make.
That's why Coach Gary Kubiak said Dan Orlovsky remains in the spot.
Orlovsky, a sixth-year NFL veteran in his second year with Houston, threw two interceptions in the preseason finale against Tampa Bay, and while Kubiak called the throws poor decisions, he said Orlovsky remains the backup behind Matt Schaub.
"Dan is our number two," Kubiak said Friday.

by John OehserOwen Daniels would love to play Thursday. However, that's not likely to happen, so the Houston Texans' Pro Bowl tight end said he'll figure some other way to prepare for the regular-season opener. But make no mistake, when it comes to the opener against Indianapolis on September 12, he will definitely be ready.
"I would like to at least come as close as I can to live action if I can't get it," Daniels said Monday as the Texans prepared to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Thursday's preseason finale at Reliant Stadium. "If (coach Gary Kubiak) doesn't want to put me in there, I'll just go with it and bang around a little bit next week or here after the game and get ready."
Daniels, who hasn't played since sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) last November, practiced for the first time this preseason on Monday. He missed the first four weeks of training camp and the first three preseason games.

by FanHouse StaffThe NFL announced Thu
rsday that it will uphold Brian Cushing's four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Cushing tested positive last September for elevated levels of hCG, a substance that can be taken to mask steroid consumption by restoring normal testosterone levels.
Cushing and Texans owner Bob McNair, who pleaded Cushing's case to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, argued that Cushing's elevated hCG levels were caused by "overtrained athlete syndrome." The NFL dismissed that possibility.
The league issued the following statement Thursday:
