FanHouse's college football staff provides you with a personal quarterback. We do the primary and secondary reads for you so you can properly start your day. FanHouse will do a Five-Step Drop several times a week during the summer and then daily once preseason practice starts.
1. The always-entertaining Dr. Saturday blog over at Yahoo! put together a top 10 list of the biggest busts among coaches who once coached in the NFL and then returned to college.
The only active coach to make the list is Texas A&M's Mike Sherman, but there are some really great blasts from the past on there. I'm actually surprised Bill Callahan wasn't higher on the list for his debacle at Nebraska.
And, of course, the name many people west of L.A. want to say (Mike Slive refers to him as "the former Tennessee coach") is not on the list. And rightfully so, as he's 7-6 after one season.
I wonder how many busts could be included if the list included former NFL assistants? I immediately thought of Cam Cameron, being an Indiana fan. He went from coaching quarterbacks for the Washington Redskins to falling far short of the expectations he willfully set for his new program.
And there have to be stories like that all over the nation. So remember, coaching in the NFL doesn't equate to a successful collegiate head coach.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- With each succeeding year since his tragic death, Pat Tillman's army continues to grow. On Saturday morning more than 28,000 people lined up outside Sun Devil Stadium to participate in the sixth annual Pat's Run, a 4.2-mile run (Tillman wore No. 42 while at Arizona State) that is staged in his honor. So popular has the race become since its 2005 inception, when 5,000 runners participated, that a few hundred runners had already crossed the finish line before the last of the bib-clad had even crossed starting line. "I think there has been a new generation that has discovered Pat's legacy," Kadi Tierney, executive director of the Pat Tillman Foundation, told the Arizona Republic. "I think in a time when we are short on sports heroes, and heroes in general, Pat's story is timeless."

A couple months ago, Steven Threet decided to leave Michigan. The quarterback started eight games for the Wolverines a year ago, but was obviously not a good fit for new coach Rich Rodriguez and the spread offense he brought from West Virginia.Threet took his time looking over his options, and he found some potential suitors who still ran some sort of pro-style offense.Steven Threet Reportedly Transferring to Arizona State originally appeared on Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog on Mon, 27 Apr 2009 17:05:00 EST . .

by Brian GrummellKerry Taylor has some set of stones attempting this kind of grab in the middle of practice. During a recent Arizona State practice, the receiver pulled off a ridiculous behind-the-back catch (video after the jump). Its the kind of stunt that results in either a dropped ball or dropped jaws. Fortunately for Taylor, it was the latter. He probably still got chewed out by his coach, but only after getting a pat on the back. Unfortunately it was only practice, we're talking about practice, and not a live game. Still awesome, but do it against an all Pac-10 corner and we've really got something here.(Via Wild West)YouTubesDay: Kerry Taylor's Behind-The-Back Catch originally appeared on Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog on Tue, 14 Apr 2009 11:51:00 EST . .

by Brian GrummellJack Elway, son of NFL great John Elway, is leaving the Arizona State football program. In a bit of a 'he's just not that into you' moment Elway has left ASU's football program but will remain in school. Quoth coach Dennis Erickson, "He's just tired of football and wants to do something else with his life."If that involves opening car dealerships his old man's already cornered the market. Regardless, he was considered a longshot for the Sun Devils' starting quarterback job, trailing senior Danny Sullivan, sophomore Samson Szakacsy (dude your mom's hot) and potentially a sophomore and incoming freshman.Quarterback Jack Elway Leaves Arizona State Football Program originally appeared on Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 18:16:00 EST . .
